Challenge Overview
This year’s topic (from Category 3): Technological Principles: structures, mechanisms, human factors, systems
"The Factory Reimagined: The Evolution of the Industrial Revolution"
Focus: Examine the technological innovations, engineering advancements, and design principles that have transformed manufacturing and, more broadly, society from the First Industrial Revolution through the current transition to Industry 4.0. Investigate and present on what and how developments have reshaped the factory and the role of humans within industrial systems.
Consider how the evolution of technology and its application through engineering practices has influenced Technology, Engineering, and Design Education and how educators can prepare students to understand, design, and responsibly participate in the increasingly interconnected and intelligent systems of modern industry. Connect the historical and contemporary development of manufacturing technology to the standards, practices, and contexts within the Standards for Technological and Engineering Literacy (STEL).
